While recently scrolling through Instagram, I was directed to a particularly moving post from a Backmate user I've never met, that had parallels to my personal story with chronic pain. The Instagram post from Ryan Yearwood (@ryearwood303) linked to a blog where he reveals his struggle with pain and how the Backmate has been a springboard to recovery. Now, in Ryan's words:
Throughout my own experience of racing motorcycles for over two decades, I too suffer from the effects of multiple crashes. With multiple herniated discs in my spine and both shoulders experiencing separation tearing, I’ve seen my share of visits to various doctors’ offices and pharmacies. So when I saw Backmate released to the market by someone who has experienced the same type of lifestyle as myself, I knew I had to give it a try.
I purchased the Backmate to address years of pain and discomfort surrounding three herniated discs in my lower back. My intention is to avoid surgery as much as possible, so I was hoping the Backmate would allow me to focus on maintaining the occasional flare up. What I’ve found is far more than I expected this product to provide. After using the Backmate to alleviate pain in my lower back and hips, I began to work on other problematic areas and have found a secondary source of my recurring problems; my legs. Although I stay active with gym exercise, along with some running and cycling, my lower back would always keep me from progressing.
My favorite thing about having this tool is that I get to control the pressure.
